Some anti-spyware program do come with their own spyware.

By using any free program on the Net, there is a chance that they might contain some spyware.

If they have an ad on them each time you start them, it is spyware. Any form of advertising is spyware.

The best and only anti-spyware you should use is Spybot. And it is Free.

I notice that when my anti-spyware and anti-virus pgms start scanning, my system slows too. Reconfig them to run when your not on the computer.
some anti's are not compatible with your comp.. uninstall it and install something else.. AVg, is easy on comp..and ad aware se personal.. bummer eh.. try spybot as a side kick..
Try downloading WinPatrol which is a free ware and check your start registery. You may have software running there that is pulling the system down at startup. Not all anti-spywares need to run at startup.
I use four active scan anty spywares with no noticeable decrease in performance. Anyway watch out for phony companies and programs 鈥?latest trend, malwares posing as security companies and programs.
