My AntiSpyware only detects cookies that has names of companies and tell me is spyware. What harm can this do? Also they are like .text files.

It contains not only cookies, but also some code to transfer data about your browsing tendencies and other vital personal information like history, other cookies information, passwords etc., Some time they will carry some viruses like Trojan Horses.
They will make browsing an annoying experience by displaying pop-up windows and interrupt your work just to complete their task.

- Identity Threats and Frauds
- Virus Problems
- Decreased system performance
- Annoying pop-up ads etc., (to name only a few)

cookie itself is NOT a spyware. A spyware could exploit a cookie by reading the content of the cookie. Most antispyware program would delete the kind of cookie called tracking cookies, these kind of cookie contains information in them (which might be a sensitive information) Report It
if this cookie is sent to its generating website, it would be harmless, however since cookie is saved as textfile unencrypted, a spyware could read the content of the cookie and exploit the information in them. Report It
