What are some good antivirus/antispyware programs I can download?

I have used AVG Anti Virus, Zone Alarm Firewall, Spy-bot Search and Destroy and Ad Aware both spyware killers for years. They are all free for personal use and I have had no trouble with Viruses Trojans etc. AVG does not slow the system down as much as some other products and Zone Alarm allows a lot of personal configuration unlike the Windows Firewall. They can all be downloaded from http://www.download.com/ I also use Windows Defender from the Microsoft site. It is safe to use two anti-spy products but never use more than one A/V as it can cause conflicts. You should run A/V and anti spy weekly. Hope this helps

1. Avira antivir personal - best free antivirus software

2. Moon Secure - has real time and a good open source antivirus with basic antispyware capabilities

3. Avast home edition - good antivirus with spyware detection capabilities although still generate lots of false positives

4. AVG - good for only basic protection. misses most dangerous malwares.

5. Bitdefender free - a good antivirus but does not have real time.

i recently installed spyware terminator to use as my main line antispyware program and vista security center does not recognize it, i turned off windows defenders real time protection and a security warning came up, so i selected the option to monitor a program myself which made the warning go away.

why won't it recognize ST? is this a big deal?

i even uninstalled it and reinstalled it to make sure it was installed correctly with the same result.

Windows Security Center is not capable of recognizing ALL of the security software out there, because there are just too many of names on the market. So Windows limits its "knowledge" to a handful of popular brands.

How do I remove a window that pops up everytime I change from one page to the other?

It's drving me nuts everytime I change the page it pops up and I had to turn my speakers off because it makes an annoying sound.

It might be on the website you are on. If you get it for the same website everytime, you should get a popup blocker. Firefox has one built in. If it is on a variety of different websites, it actually an infection on your computer, but you should not click on the popup. Possibly think about investing in a good antivirus program or use a free one such as AVG Antivirus.

Browser attacks aren't easy to spot because they piggyback on legitimate traffic that doesn't exhibit many obvious warning signs

my computer was infected with spyware, and I cant seem to get rid of it. I've tried everything like virus scans and it detected it, and i deleted it, but my computer is still infected. And I cannot go to a website and download an antispyware because it's blocked from the spyware virus..I'm stuck and dont know what to do! Help someone please? Thanks

What is this AWOLA thing and Yellow Triangle w/ ! on my PC???

There is this thing that popped up and says your PC is infected. When I close the pop-up, it loads up this green scanner and starts scanning. Then I closed the icon and tried to remove it in Add/Remove but its not there. I click on the Start menu and see that it has an unistall button. So i click on that and it never did anything...I don't get it...

Is there a FREE Anti-Spyware Remover that I can download to get rid of AWOLA?...I tried downloading all these stupid antispyware that requires you to pay for spyware removal. PLEASE HELP ME!!!

Computer pop up problems.?

Okay so just about two nights ago i had sent some audio from my phone to my computer, well on my computer i couldn't hear the audio at all. Since on my computer I'm not the addmin., i decided i'd try limewire to find an audio fixer. So i fould one, started to download that, and my virus scanner blocked it(Virus scanner's name is Webroot Antivirus with AntiSpyware) Well, after closing out of the audio fixer and giving my computer a virus scan (in which it found 6 viruses) I keep on getting all these popups. The popups are originated from CiD.

I've been getting popups like every five minutes and I'd really like to get them to go away. Is there anyway that i can put a blocker on CiD with my virus scanner? I have popup blockers on my computer just as a little extra information.

Ok first thing, remove one of the anti virus you have. Either Norton or AVG. Never use 2 anti virus as they will conflict with each other.

First thing, get rid of norton and either AVG or windows defender. Having multiple antiviruses running simultaneously will cause your system to be unstable, not to mention eat up unnecessary resources.

Nothing can protect you like knowing what you're doing. There is no one-hit-wonder software.

BTW, norton is bloatware. It does the job but requires a lot of unnecessary resources to do it.
