HELP!!!! Pop up warnings driving me mad?

I installed Winantivirus last week but didnt like it so I removed it. I installed AVG antivirus and spyware yesterday which says it has cleaned my system. HOwever ever since last week I have had alert boxes appear repeatedly stating my system is in danger or a malware alert with a link to downloading new antispyware software. These have nothing to do with my AVG stuff and look like just some kind of pop ups (not explorer) that are meant to look they are proper warnings but are really just links to some site.

I have no idea how to get rid of them. Each time I turn my computer on and off I also have 3 new icons on the desk top 'error cleaner' privacy protector' that are just links to a site.

THEY ARE DRIVING ME INSANE%26gt;

I have done a full virus, malware, adware, spyware check and no nasties remain. How can i get rid of them?????
