How do i stop System Alerts on my computer???

So i got a virus and im trying to fix it... idk if it is yet. I got AVG and it has like 5 or 6 viruses in the vault now... but does that mean my computer is safe now?

Cause the System Alert at the bottom of the screen (it has a question mark symbol thing) keeps blinking and turning into an X. it says theres antispyware programs i should get but i dont know if i should or if its part of the virus.
