You left out a couple of details, like the version of Windows you are running and what sort of antivirus software you currently have. Do you have XP or Vista? Are you running Norton, McAfee, or what?

Whatever you do, don't go download whatever that popup is telling you to download. It will only make it worse.

Download, install, update and run these two tried and true free antispyware packages:

Spybot Search %26 Destroy:

Ad-Aware:

You may also find CCleaner (also free) useful:

Get Mozilla FireFox (free) http://mozilla.org

Download the AdBlock and NoScript attachments.

Surf for a while and see if the pop-ups continue. If so, download SpyBot Search%26Destroy, and Avast, Ad-Aware, and a firewall (I personally use Spy Sweeper, but the computer techs on this site recommend it.).
