Any ideas on computer freezing on the internet?

I have tried antispyware and virus cleaning, but my computer is still freezing only on the internet. It's totally random as to when it freezes

Any ideas on computer freezing on the internet?pc security

i'm going to guess you have DSL or cable. i just went through this problem myself. chance are your nic card is the problem , going bad.

Any ideas on computer freezing on the internet?symantic

Well you got the cheapo problem found in many computers that free and the antivirus can not find anything. YOU NEED MORE RAM. What happens is your internal memory needs to be upgraded. Find out what the max memory that your computer can handle and then find out what you have and upgrade.

Also, if you have an old system and trying to run these new games that will be another cause of freezing. But if it freezes doing different things then it is the memory problem. Also, check on what memory your computer uses and has. Cause you can not put 2 GB in and expect it to work if your computer can handle only 1 GB, just a waste of money. Also different type of memory and again there are different 512 Mb memory modules. You have to find the right type of 512 Mb for your computer.
I personally have IE7 and it LAGS big time, so while the people at Microsoft are working out the kinks, try switching to Mozilla Firefox. It just works. Hope it helps.

I want your help, plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz?

I want to close 'Safely Remove Hardware' from running on the task bar. It automatically appeared after I installed SpyBoot Search and Destroy ( antispyware ). Please suggest how do I overcome the problem. Do you know what this thing is???????????

I want your help, plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz?photoshop

Both the above answers are correct "safely remove hardware" only appears when you have finished say moving pictures from your flash drive pen to your system, it's basically saying it's now safe to unplug.

As the other answer suggests it must just be a coincidence that you added new spyware and thought it was that-it wont be but if your worried you could always remove that program from your system, goto start then my computer then remove programs select it and delete!

I have had major problems with so called spyware removers.

One I can guarantee is safe, sound easy to use etc.. is

super anti spyware look it up on google it's free!!!!!

I run this along side my antivirus AVG free addition I have had no worries since using these.

Better and faster system speeds that using Norton.

Hope that helps

This icon appears only when u connect USB Hardware that can be used as storage. For example, USB Flash/Jump Drives, Card Readers, USB Floppy Drives, etc.
Safely is part of XP and you can't remove it.
I assume it's a laptop here? Removing hardware safely is part of XP and you can't remove it.

Spybot would have nothing to do with this it's just a coincidence.
That icon is like death and taxes...it exists forever

it appears it is infected. well-known anti-spyware software, most are free, such as PC TOOLS SpyDoctor, Norton program on yahoo tool bar etc. can be good tools for cleaning up and quite safe. both of the above are free downloads.
I had a trojan in my computer a couple of weeks ago, and asked for help here. I tried a free trial of Norton 360, it did nothing, I tried several programs suggested, but the one that worked for me, was AVG antispy, it is free for 30 days, then goes to the free version, if you don't buy it. It cleaned up my computer, but before trying it, I was trying all these other things, and was about to tear my hair out. I had used the AVG antispy before, but it wasn't finding anything. Probably because I didn't have anything on there. www.grisoft.com. I had forgotten how to use it, so when it found the infection, I deleted it before I looked to make sure I had it. There is a place on there before you delete, to look to see where it is, do that. It has been scanning clean now, for over a week.
sounds like adware

My Yahoo mail no longer uploads attached files. It used to . I'm puzzled. Any suggestions?

The only change I've made is I added avg antispyware, but when I disable it, I still can't up load files. I use firefox and have not changed any settings there. Small files don't upload. Zipped files don't either.

Help with Malware!?

Two days ago my computer got infected with a malware. It displays a bar in Internet Explore saying the following:

I had try to remove using Norton Antivirus, Spybot Search and Destroy, Ad- Aware 2007, Ewido Antimalware. Spyware Terminator and AVG antispyware. None of these programs has worked.

One of the thing this malware does is that it give you alerts almost every 2 minutes telling you that your system have been infected with different kinds of virus. In the alert they show Type of virus. Vulnerable Plattafroms., Description and Protection.

I don't know what to do and would appreciate some help.

Is it possible to have 2 antivirus programs at once?

Just curious about this. I know you can have multiple antispyware programs. What happens if you have 2 antivirus utilities?

Is it possible to have 2 antivirus programs at once?triumph

You could have two antivirus programs on your computer but these two antivirus programs will "compete" each other......

Just stick with the antivirus you trusted most and uninstall the other one..

Hope this helps!

Is it possible to have 2 antivirus programs at once?worms

yes, it is possible to have 2 anti-virus programs... but it is not advisable because it will eat up a lot of memory and system resources. they will also compete with each other, that is, they will detect or quarantine or heal a virus file at the same time, and this may result to a chaotic system. it is best to just keep one anti-virus program that has an updated virus list.
I once installed NOD32 and AVG 7.5 antivirus.NOD stopped working!
Having more than one antivirus program active in memory uses additional resources and can result in program conflicts and false virus alerts.

Your best defense against computer viruses and malicious programs is to keep your virus definitions up to date

How many antispyware programs should i have?

Superantispyware free edition and windows defender work well together?vincent

As long is your "Super" is the free edition which is the one without the real-time resident protection, you will be fine with it and "Defender".

Your computer will not even know that SuperAntispyware exists unless you are actively running a scan with it.

You may run as many on-demand anti-spyware scanners as you wish, but only one should have resident protection and your WD has resident protection.

Linux OS security?

compare linux to window, one major difference is that linux is safer, and like we don't have to worry about virus, spyware like we do in windows. But I have a question, if one website or some files/softwares contains spyware, virus, then you open the websites/files/softwares, you will probably be affected, isn't it also apply to linux or any OS? then, isn't it means antivirus and antispyware is also necessary for linux?

Linux OS security?virus protection

Most viruses are executables, in windows they will have a .exe extension or something in that range. Windows executables CAN NOT run on Linux machine without a windows emulator. Even then they usually set up a Fake windows drive space that will not effect your OS.

Another thing is that usually the person that is operating a windows machine is usually the administrator or have administrative privileges (for installing and running applications) that have access to all parts of the system. In Linux usually the person that is operating the computer is a normal user without any Administrative (it is called root) privileges. So If you install something on Linux you can only wipe your user account and the system should still function.

Hope that helps

RJ

Linux OS security?agv

No, because most viruses and spyware programs are designed to run on Windows applications only.

That is Linux and Mac users don't have to worry about viruses and spyware. Even if we do download it, and open it up, it just won't run.

It would be like trying to run a windows program on a linux or mac machine.

Is Norton Anti-Virus enough to protect my computer?

Please don't reply telling me that you hate Norton, I don't want opinions on the product, I want answers from Anti-Virus users. I had Norton Internet Security and think of switching to Norton Anti-Virus 2008 w/ Antispyware, will this be enough? Or will I need more? I used a lot of internet connecting programs and know that it doesn't give you the input of blocking certain accesses.

Is Norton Anti-Virus enough to protect my computer?computer virus

More? You don't want more than one virus protection system running at the same time. Make sure you have a firewall if you are wireless.

Is Norton Anti-Virus enough to protect my computer?free spyware remover

I think Norton Security Center will serve you well. It's a good AV. You also need a firewall (Hardware and Software). For the former I'd use a linksys firewall router and for the latter, turn off the MS and the Norton Firewall and get a copy of Sunbelt Kerio Firewall for maximum protection all the way around. Norton centers antispyware is OK. You could also use Ad-Aware.
You probably do not need a newer version of Norton if you run updates on the one you have. Plus some of the Norton packages other then their basic antivirus are resource hogs and can slow your computer (depending on the PC). New web browsers have some of the security features that would come with Norton '08 antispyware. One that was recommended to my by both Verizon and Microsoft when I was on a conference call with their tech support, is Panda Antivirus. I'd never heard of it and was told it's the best. They even have a tool on their website called Active scan. It will scan your whole machine for viruses. When I used to use Norton products I would do this and often find that Panda found viruses Norton did not. You can always find their website by googling "Panda Activescan", but here's the link as well. If you run it will ask you to let it install a file. I swear on my yahoo account that it is safe. Give it a try! You might want to switch to panda! (No, I do not work for them)

Do you think I have enough protection without reordering this?

I have spybot and super antispyware plus webroot spy sweeper. The only one I'm paying for is Webroot. My subscription is coming to an end and I don't know if I should get rid of it or not.

Do you think I have enough protection without reordering this?computer

Where is your anti-virus? I am seeing 3 anti-spywares. Spybot and SAS should be sufficient as spyware scanners but you are losing the real-time resident protection of Webroot SpySweeper. The addition of a good anti-virus can plug that hole.

Many of today's quality anti-virus programs also have more than adequate spyware detection capabilities in real time.

For an anti-virus, I like AOL Active Virus Shield. Don't let the name AOL fool you. Active Virus Shield is made by Kaspersky which is one of top-rated anti-virus vendors in the world.

In recent tests, the most popular free anti-virus, AVG, was only able to detect about 82% of a very large sample of viruses. On the other hand, Active Virus Shield was able to detect better than 99% in the same test.

Full test chart is here:

http://www.virus.gr/english/fullxml/defa...

Active Virus Shield has excellent virus detection rates and is extremely light on using your computer resources. (6mb ram)

there are viruses that can get through all that security you know. i

recommend you go to www.stopsign.com they check if your computer is clean of viruses for free. if that's not the

Clear temp internet files/history and cookies. Restart computer. Try again. Still having problems? It's probably a connection issue with your ISP. Call them and let them know about the slowness unless you know how to run your own ping test. If that's not it, check all of your programs. It could be something that is set to start/run at the wrong time or when you turn on your computer that is causing the slowness.

Downloaded virus codec from two girls one cup video, how do i remove?

Ok Everyone at school says "Man you gotta watch this video its sick!" so im like ok. But when i try to watch it (First mistake) it asks me to download a codec and i clicked cancel and moved on. Then i saw another link and it asked same thing so i downloaded it (for whatever reason) and i just found out that: Yay i downloaded a virus... How can i remove it. Whenever i try to open an application it says:

Your browser was hijacked by Trojan.Win32.Agent.akk

You need to clean your system immediately, in other casr it can be crashed soon!

I click no everytime because i think its gonna make it wors because of "high-tech" doesnt sound like something windows would say. I used a scanner and found Trojan.Vundo file and it said it may have secretly installed itself downloading a plugin or codec but i cant remove it without buy ing full version! Any ideas??!!

Downloaded virus codec from two girls one cup video, how do i remove?download

I don' know what you are doing watching that sick video... but you obviously are infected and not just with a single thing from the looks of it.

Vundo and the Trojan you've mentioned appear to be two separate infections and you would do well to invest in a proper security suite (antivirus, firewall, antispyware, etc) from a RELIABLE vendor (mcafee, norton, kaspersky, etc) that can properly protect you (from yourself).

However, if you are badly infected you might need to run SuperAntiSpyware more than once to help clean your system. If the only infections now being shown are in System Restore, once you are completely satisfied that you can boot normally, you can either delete the infected restore points manually, or temporarily turn off System Restore.

You can't fix it. Yahoo knows about it.

Help! Spyware and virus protection isn't working...need advice!?

I allowed the office "IT" guy to install something on my personal laptop and I'm crawling with trojans, worms, adware, spyware, etc. Spent 鈧?0 to get it fixed -- they took off McAffee (which had been working before the "IT jerk". Now I have Kaspersky and Super AntiSpyware. Things keep coming through -- hundreds of infestations even with 2-3 times daily scans.

I'm considering backing up everything and starting from scratch, but won't I also back up the infected files?

What software should I use to protect myself?

Should I go back to the 2nd (real) IT guys to finish what I paid them for?

Would love any advice on this age-old topic! Thanks!

You have to have some kind of guarantee with the tech. that fixed your pc for Pound 90. I would call the company and complain and demand that they send over another tech. Plus you tell them you are not paying one Pound.

McAfee is not all that great. (In my spare time I am a beta tester for just about all the antivirus/antispyware software.

Kaspersky and Superantispyware is excellent. I use Superantispyware and this software will always find what all other miss. I think Kaspersky is second best in the world. And the antivirus I use I consider to be #1 in the world. As it is also used by the Govt. Of China. You pay only a one time fee for life of $29.99 and you get daily updates and all new versions for life. State of the art technology that is light years ahead of any other antivirus program on the market. You can read about Twister Trojan Antivirus on their web page.

SecurePCCleaner is a fake PC cleanup application that is often secretly imported and executed on your machine with the help of nefarious Trojans. SecurePCCleaner may also come through various loopholes on your Internet browser. Once installed, SecurePCCleaner will load on every Windows startup and will issue fake messages stating that your system is infected with spyware. SecurePCCleaner uses deceptive advertising tactics to scare you into purchasing its full version. SecurePCCleaner is usually delivered through the Zlob Trojan malware.

.
Believe it or not from what I know about programs like that that take over your system tray it is only there to make you buy their product to remove a problem that they cause. There is a way to remove the program for free. Here is the link to the site http://www.antivermins-removal.com.remov...

Also try to stay away freeware and shareware with "bundled" software as it sometimes packages programs such as antivermins. You may also want to look into trying out Avast Home antivirus as so long as I have had it and kept it on I haven't had a problem yet.
Maybe you should run an anti-spy program and search for the Spyware, or do a virus scan, but things that you want of is go to Start--Run and type in msconfig and click the tab that says Startup and unselect the one you don't want...Good luck
In addition to the above advice, you might want to consider downloading Windows Defender by Microsoft. It's a free anti-spyware program by Microsoft. McAfee is mainly an anti-virus, so may not be as good at catching spyware activities.

Firewall????

can I use two firewall simultaneously? now I am using bitdefender firewall. can I activate windows firewall too? if don't, plz mention what's d reason?

and in ur view which antivirus and antispyware is d best?

Firewall????free antivirus

No you can only use one firewall. Windows Firewall is not a true firewall, because you only get protection from incoming rogue packets. Fails to protect your data in you pc from leaving without your permission.

Keep, bitdefender firewall, being it is a true firewall. (Incoming/Outgoing).

Minddoctor, France

Firewall????internet

You can use two firewall simultaneously but it is not recommended Also windows firewall is not good .You can stick to bitdefender firewall.

You can activate window's firewall from control panel--%26gt;security setting.

The antivirus ,in my views, best is ANTIVIR.

Antispyware is Panda antispyware

Otherwise top 3 antiviruses are Bitdefender,Kaspersky and Macafee antivirus
Use BitDefender Firewall and disable Windows firewall.
May not be possible.

The Antivirus provided by the Windows originally may be always be used.
u try it becoz there is no harm in trying it.best antivirus-bitdefender,best spyware-spywaredoctor
You should not run two firewalls together -- there is no point and it will increase the chances of conflicts.

Just use Bitdefender and forget Windows Firewall.
1 firewall only
just try it.switch on the bitdefender firewall on

and then try switchin the firwall of windows frm contrl pannel.

DoubleClick and ieFrame Virus, Please Help?

Every time I go to Amazon.com, I get hit with like 30 Doubleclick attempts, and my Spydoctor/Spybot catches it.

I can't even enter in credit card info in order to buy something without this popping up.

THEN if I do accept the cookie, which I did once just to see if it would then stop popping up and allow me to make my purchase, it then started to try installing "ieFrame", which I read is a known virus!

From what I understand, Doubleclick is a cookie, BUT it also installs several things in the Registry, which my antispyware is only catching one of those, not the deeper ones I guess.

I have also read that some of the things it installs on people's computers enable viruses from elsewhere to be able to come in.

I have looked online for how to get rid of the entire Doubleclick mess, but cannot find anything that gives step by step details.

Can someone please give me information as to how to get Doubleclick and all of it's arms out of my computer, registry, etc.? Thanks!

"your computer was infected by trojan"?house call

Your computer is most likely infected with what is commonly called "rogue anti spyware." Basically, rogue anti spyware infects a computer and warns the user that their computer is infected and tries to scare you into purchasing their software. Once installed, they cause more damage. You will need to install a genuine anti spyware program to remove it. The 3 most popular anti spyware programs are: Spybot Search%26

Destroy, Lavasoft's Ad Aware and Microsoft's Windows Defender. You can find all 3 at http://www.filehippo.com/software/antisp... While you can only install one antivirus program, you can and should use more than 1 anti spyware program. Install them and then update them. Run a scan with each program and be sure to quarantine any suspicious files.

I think the problem is my RAM. Should I upgrade it? and if yes, 1GB or 2GB?

How do I speed up my slow laptop?hp

Most computer users have been trained that if you want more speed for your computer, then add more memory. Well, this is true, in certain circumstances. But for most of the times, it really is just bad files in your registry files. Corrupted or missing registry files can make your computer too slow.

The registry is a main part of your computer's Operating System. With time, as you use Windows and install and uninstall programs, your registry will get congested and full of errors. So your computer could slow down. So, if you can clean it up this problem can be solved.Sometimes you can speed computer up by 300%. To clean up registry,You can download a software called regsitry cleaner---Clean registry, remnant, corrupt files and temp files,history,cookies,etc.. This site:

Ghostwrite the system...that means save what you must on a disc....clear out the whole system (you should have gotten the disc with the computer) and check what you've got on a public system that usually has a good protection system...if it comes up that there's something on it, either take it to the cleaners or dump it.
I suggest you do a complete system scan of your computer using Microsoft's Windows Live OneCare Safety Scanner to remove any traces of the virus. It's free and you don't need to download or install a whole program. The website is http://onecare.live.com
Well If you know or feel that your Computer has numerous amount of malware.Well what I recommend. That you either do a system recovery that maybe be built in your computer. In order to use it first reboot then quickly press F10 or F12 depending on your system. Then go ahead and follow the intructions so forth on what option you want modified. If you choose the system recovery it will format and reinstall windows. Therefore just be like you almost bought it.If you really want to be secure wipe your system with kill disk (http://www.killdisk.com/) or DBAN (http://dban.sourceforge.net/).Open up the file and burn the ISO file with Nero,Magic ISO or ISO Buster. After you have burned it insert the CD reboot the begin the proccess."Note That This Will Wipe Your Hard Drive Completely Even All Partitions That Means Even Your Built In System Retore".So Please use with caution. When the wipe is complete reinstall windows. When thats done immediately begin downloading Spyware Doctor and Firefox only (http://pack.google.com/intl/en/pack_inst... google pack downloads and installs only spyware doctor and firefox then immediatley install AVAST Antivirus ( http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-... dont use AVG it sucks.Remember you can go to Kaspersky (http://www.kaspersky.com/virusscanner) or Bit Defender (http://www.bitdefender.com/scan8/ie.html... for a online antivirus scan.

How do I remove Trojan Vundo and Fotomoto that followed Bestseller antivirus?

I was checking out some websites - either bleachexile.com, veoh.com, or kumby.com, don't know from which one it came from - I received an alert of spyware and trojans that seemed to be from Windows, prompting me to install antispyware software - i was in a hurry so I clicked and it started downloading Bestseller antivirus, I couldn't cancel it. I managed to delete it but from then on got Symantec antivirus alerts of Trojan.Vundo and Adware.Ezula, and Windows Defender alerts of Fotomoto. I downloaded a Symantec FixEzula tool and those alerts stopped, but I keep getting Trojans and Fotomoto alerts no matter how much I quarantine, clean, remove risks and reboot. Sorry to hear about your problem. I have come across this many times and what I suggest below will work in the majority of cases.

No antivirus or antispyware protection is perfect, not even the expensive ones but a good mixture will help you clean your system and hopefully keep it clean. It is advisable not to run two or more anti virus applications.

For starters, download, update and run a full scan using the following product:

SuperAntiSpyware is exceptional and will remove the majority of difficult Trojans and Worms, not just the easy ones.

Try a online antivirus scanner and a online anti-adware/malware/spyware scanner in safe mode with network to clean up your computer BEFORE you download anything. This because the program you download can get infected.

Disable "System Restore" for Windows Me and XP, then restart your PC to clean your system restore points for viruses, spyware, adware etc. http://www.microsoft.com/technet/communi...

Now restart in safe mode.

To get in safe mode Press "F8" upon boot up.

Select "Safe mode with Network".

Go to Start - Run - type iexplore http://www.bitdefender.com/scan8/ie.html Enter(ok).

Do a full scan of all your drives. If something is found, delete it, reboot and do the same again in safe mode with network.

When that scan does not find anything you reboot again in safe mode with network.

Go to Start - Run - type iexplore http://www.ewido.net/en/ Enter(ok).

Okay you have to catch the trojan before it get into your father's user. If your scanning doesn't find it has attacked those programs and stop their scan feature.

Your go to need Norton Antivirus 2007 or Norton Antivirus 2008.

This is how I found and stopped it.
I dont have the answer to that question but I would suggest downloading and using different browsers. I think Internet Explorer's the worst one. Use Mozilla Firefox or Avant.
Run Norton and see if there is a trojan or virus.
go to Download.com and download ad-aware and spybot(free). They should help you clean out your computer a little. And use Mozilla Firefox!

My advice would be to update Spybot then re-run the scan or an even better solution would be to go to www.download.com and download SuperAntispyware Free Edition which is leaps and bounds ahead of either Spybot and Adaware in terms of malware detection and removal. Your internet Explorer version is not the problem, it is your antispyware protection that is lacking. Trust Me!

How do you remove Trojan-Spy.Win32@mx?

after researching this some, it appear that most antispyware and antivirus software cannot delete this, and the ones that can are costly. Is there a free method this can be done? (preferably not manual deletion, but i would like to know that way too.)

How do you remove Trojan-Spy.Win32@mx?matchless

Try these tools. They are all free.

AntiSpyware Applications

SuperAntispyware

http://superantispyware.com/

Spybot S%26D (free version requires manual updating)

http://www.safer-networking.org/en/downl...

AVG AntiSpyware

http://free.grisoft.com/doc/20/lng/us/tp...

Adaware from Lavasoft (free version requires automatic updating)

http://www.lavasoftusa.com/products/ad_a...

Download them and check for updates then run in Safe Mode. To get into Safe Mode, reboot and then either hold down or tap the F8 key repeatedly while the computer is starting up.

If you cannot get it removed after the above, you may want to join a tech group that specializes in providing manual instructions on malware eradication.

My computer keeps getting a pop up saying your computer was infected by a trojan. How to get rid of

My computer keeps getting a pop up saying your computer was infected by a trojan every time I open a program or go to a new website. It says that it was infected by a trojan, some files could be lost. Click OK to download the antispyware program to clean your system (Recommended). I know that I have some kind of adaware or spyware but I can't get rid of it. I have norton, lavasoft adaware, and spybot search and destroy and it will not find the problem or get rid of it. Also, when I click ok to download, it wants me to download setup1.exe from files-secure.com. I know that this is trying to get me to download something that will hurt my computer more but I don't know how to get rid of this. Can anyone help?? '

My computer keeps getting a pop up saying your computer was infected by a trojan. How to get rid of this? Helpnorton antivirus

that popup that tells you that you are infected and to "click here" to clean your computer is the spyware itself. you need to get the most recent version of adaware to take care of this. if you arent sure what version you have just uninstall it and go to download.com to get the most recent version. it wont delete it on the first try, youll need to run it, then let it run after you restart before windows starts. this will take care if the problem.
I got that same virus. That pop-up you are getting is a virus. I have installed Norton, AVG, PC Tools Antivirus, and many more, and have not been able to remove it. What you have to do is find a geek friend (or if you are a computer geek), and you need to install Windows XP on a different hard drive. Once you do that, hook up your virus-infected hard drive as the secondary hard drive, and go into Windows, then My computer, right-click itm and click Format. Format the hard drive.

Why is my computer so, so, slow?

From the time I turn it on to the time I get connected to the internet, it takes 15-30 minutes. I do have Norton 360, total PC security (anti-virus, antispyware, firewall, and the whole bit).

What is wrong. How do I correct the problem? Thanks

Why is my computer so, so, slow?moto guzzi

If your virus/spyware free, there are a couple things you can do get your computer working faster. If you using your computer for normal stuff and not gaming. You don't always need more RAM you just need to perform a few maintenance task.

First, if you haven't cleaned your registry in a while. This is necessary. Your registry holds all the information regarding updates, installs, un-installs etc. Each one of those events produces a key. That key needs your PC's resources and free space. So, if you clean your registry, you make more resources available for speed. Do a registry scan if you got more than 20 errors you should clean it.

http://www.delete-computer-history.com/w...

2. Clear your Windows cache files, this is your temporary file. It can grow up to a large volume and stop your computer from using RAM properly. In a sense slow it down by preventing it from using free space. Here is how:

1. Quit Internet Explorer, Firefox, or any other web browser

2. Click Start, click "Control Panel", and then double-click "Internet Options".

Manually editing Windows registry for removing a browser hijacking entry ?

I ran a free antispyware scan with XoftSpy from www.paretologic.com and it listed that my notebook is infected with CWS.Oslogo (type: registry value; threat level: Severe risk;object: software\microsoft\internet explorer\styles\user stylesheet ) .

For removing this registry entry I was asked to purchase the XoftSpy program.

What are the ways/instructions to MANUALLY %26 SAFELY edit the Windows registry in order to get rid of this malicious registry entry?

CWS is one of a group of browser hijackers and Browser Helper Objects (BHOs) that have become famous for their prevalence and global influence. It exploits security holes in a Web browser (often Internet Explorer and its Java Virtual Machine) to install itself and direct all browser default pages, address bar searches and search engine searches to other web search pages. Oslogo slows down Internet Explorer considerably and periodically changes the homepage and search page to other websites.

Sounds like you have the latest TrojanWin32 hijacker. This malicious virus is designed to interrupt browsing and give you some minor connection problems in the hop that the site currently dispensing it will get you to pay for their removal software.

YOU DO NOT NEED TO DOWNLOAD THEIR VIRUS SOFTWARE TO REMOVE THIS!

Do I have too much security. I just added prevx1 (trial) to fix a problem with winantivirus..I now have thesenetwork

Please answer these questions

a. Is this ok together and will it protect me.

Prevx is considered "Intrusion Detection" and will coexist peacefully with an existing AV. During the trial, Prevx will do an adequate job of protecting you.

b.Should I remove prevx 1 (will not be getting buy version in 30 days) or keep till then.

No harm in using it till the trial ends

c. If I remove prevx1, will the problem with win antivirus come back?

No, but I would still delete the quarantined files prior to removing Prevx

d. Am I desparately missing anything?

Maybe. If you are only using the free versions of AVG Anti-Spyware and Ad-Aware, you are missing an active spyware guard.

Help pls. system keeps clicking and then rebooting itself regardless of what I am doing but is ok in

opp sys xp. I have norton, spyware blaster and super antispyware all state i have no viruses, have used ccleaner to clean. It reboots regardless of what I am doing and not to any timescale, but does not do it in safe mode..... any help would be appreciated. thank you

Help pls. system keeps clicking and then rebooting itself regardless of what I am doing but is ok in safe modecomputers

Theres more then just 1 or 2 things that could be wrong here....

1.click start and then control panel, when there click windows updates and get all windows updates that are there.Download them, install them, then reboot your pc.

2.Click on My Computor and go to Hard Drive C and right click on it,then click on properties, and click on the Disk Cleanup tab,it will then scan your HD and you will after a few minutes get a new screen appear, tick all the boxes there and then click on the more options tab, where you see the system restore tab click 'clean up' it again will take a minute or 2 but once you have all this done then we can move onto the next step.

3.Click start and then all programmes then goto Accessories there select System Tools and goto Disk Defragmenter and do a full defrag on HD C.

This should help with these issues but if they dont then as a last option i would say to do this.

4.Click on My Computor and then right click on HD C go to Properties and then select the Tools Tab,there select the Error Checking tab and and tick both boxes there. The pc will say that this drive is in use and will set your pc to check this drive when you next reboot.Click ok and then go ahead and reboot your pc,you will get a blue screen with writing whilst your pc checks and fixes your HD (this can take some time) let it do what it needs to do then it will reboot itself and come back as normal when its complete.

Please ignore the advice given on the links above by Norman B - either it's a hoax, or he's simply not qualified to be giving out suggestions.

Contrary to his advice, Firewalls are extremely useful, particulary those that block outgoing, as well as incoming connections (ZoneAlarm, for example). To give you some idea as to why - say, for example, you have unwittingly downloaded a trojan that is logging your keystrokes and sending them back to a server on the internet. With a firewall monitoring outgoing access, even if the trojan works as it should, you would still have to give it your permission to report its findings back to base. Incoming firewalls block connections to any ports that may have been accidentally or maliciously opened on your computer.

Onto the subject of people attempting to gain control of your machine - it doesn't matter that you're not the pentagon. It doesn't matter if you have no personal information stored on it at all; the fact is, hackers make hundreds of thousands of pounds by forming what are known as 'botnets' of compromised 'zombie' machines, which are then commonly used in criminal enterprise, DDOS attacks, and so forth.

This are simple examples - there are many more. Firewalls can be a pain to configure, but they are well worth it - not having one is simply ridiculous.

Where is that music coming from???

I have had this problem for a few months: I am on the internet and then, all of a sudden, this music starts blaring out of nowhere! It sounds like a hard rock radio station and I can't find out where it's coming from or how to get rid of it. If I just leave it alone, or if I reboot my pc, it will go away for awhile. My antivirus/antispyware software is up to date, and I can't figure out what to do.

Also, if I am not on the internet (my pc is DSL so it's online all the time), it just suddenly starts blaring this music. It's weird! Can you help me out?

If your not sure where the music is coming from restart you computer and see what opens when it restarts!

If you click on some advertisements they start playing music and or talk.

Good luck!
it's probably a random hidden popup or something. just turn the sound off.

Stopzilla.. opinions please?

Hello.

I have been using Stopzilla Antispyware and Pop up blocker and I have to say that it appears to be a pretty good program. However, it seems to want to take over my pc! It wants to have several desktop icons and wants to always run but I dont want it to.. I want to occasionally scan with it because I use Spybot to.

My question is what do u think of the program.. good bad.. what? I paid 39.00 for it and hate to uninstall but If u think I should.. I will. Thanks.

Stopzilla.. opinions please?free spyware

Well I am sure there are options in your spyware to change settings on it. I would start on your options and pick what you want running or not.

I am not sure if you wasted money . I don't use spy ware programs, then again I only go to 3 https sites. I use my computer at work to browse more of the Internet.

Stopzilla.. opinions please?live update

If you bought it from the Chinese or the Japanese then they just made a program to fool you and it probably sends information every minute on what your doing.
In my book, anything that takes over my computer like that is only worthy of the boot. your call.

HELP!! VIRUS and SPY/ADD WARES!!!?

Hi, i've been recently searchign and downloading games and programs for my comps, recently I kept on getting the same/similar virus's, spywares, and addwares. and i am sick of them, especially the creators......

Anyways for example, i have this virus in my local temp files along with some otherones(like 6 others) and they either slow my comp alot, or kept popping up messages from my AVG claiming that i got a virus(which knew) persistantly.

Also a addware/spyware that i have, and some of my friends have was called "AntiSpyware Master" which sounds liek a good program, but not. Becuase it wants to register in their crapy website, their program won't sotp buggin my comp, AND I CAN"T DELET IT. Some stupid addware it turned out to be.

IF anyone could help me please do share, becuase many people have encounter similar virus's and feathues such as this.

Thank You for Your Time

You usually get infected because your security settings are too low.

Here are a number of recommendations to help tighten them, which will hopefully make you a less likely victim:

i had some major spyware problems about a month ago and i tried every free scan out there and nothing would help the scan would be free and id would have to pay like $39.99 or get rid of what they found..... i did spybot, spyzapper, superanti spyware, avg spyware and alot of others and the only one that worked for me was this http://spywareremover.com/ its not free its like $19.95 or something like that i know its not over $20 it might be $19.99 and it worked wonders for me %26 its cheaper then $49.99 which is what one of the spyware programs wanted me to pay and i didnt have that kind of money to go and blow , i had alot of spyware, on the 1st scan they found like 500 and i just kept running scan after scan and the next day it was gone, and a plus is if it doesnt work you can get your money back. im still using it and i havent had any more problems!!

How do I get rid of tracking cookies for good?

I have Norton Antispyware and i run a system check and it gets rid of them but they keep coming back. What do I do to get rid of them for good?

How do I get rid of tracking cookies for good?hijackthis

You can do it in many ways.

1. Use the Tools menu in the Internet Explorer and in the General tab, click "delete cookies"

2. Use Crap cleaner, CCleaner. It will also help to clean many others stuff including registry

http://www.filehippo.com/download_cclean...

3, if you want to just clean a particular cookie, you would have to do a wild search for the file, using the website for example in the search file section of "MyComputer" and once found, delete them. Cookies are usually stored in C:\Documents and Settings folder under (your windows login name)\Cookies.

But if it is adwares that you are referring to as cookies, then it can be removed using adaware software such as this

http://www.lavasoftusa.com/products/ad_a...

How do I get rid of tracking cookies for good?malware

There is no way they usally save data and words or searches you did!But you may delete them but not for good!
There is a setting in the options of all web browsing software where you can turn cookies 'off'. A lot of web pages won't work with them turned off.
You probably can't. The cookies aren't going to hurt you (usually).

As long as port 80 is open you're going to have cookies.

There are stealth programs out there but not sure which ones are legit.

The icon says your computer is infected.?

If it says windows has detected spyware infection to download and install antispyware protection and I downloaded Awola Anti Spyware will that fix it? I did that and it couldn't find anything wrong. What do I do now?

The icon says your computer is infected.?internet security 2006

awola is the reason you receive pop-ups. it infects computers and then it offers downloading rogue antispyware in order to trick people and gain a purchase. so, awola won't help you with anything.

you can choose to ignore the pop-ups that say your computer is infected because these alert are fabricated by awola. however awola itself is a malware and it is dangerous for your computer. remove awola as soon as possible. here's a tutorial: http://www.2-spyware.com/remove-awola.ht...

The icon says your computer is infected.?microsoft

If it said that windows detected spyware and you downloaded the program they told you to download, you've been had. It is fraudware. I would uninstall it. Never click on a link in a browser window that claims to have found viruses or trojan horses on your machine. If you didn't install the program then it couldn't have searched your computer. They often use deceptive marketing by making the message window look as though it is a message from your computer, when it is really just a web page.
