i have an adware problem with my computer, that keeps changing my background to an ad from ADWARE PUNISHER, changes my home page, generates pop ups. I installed Microsof AntiSpyware, but it doesnt seem to be helping much. If anyone had a similar problem, please tell me what to do. thanks in advance.

Before you reformat your hard drive, try to scan with ADAWARE or spybot (both are FREE!) to see if either one can fix the problem. Also AVG Antivirus is a good free tool.
Also, search "Adware punisher" on yahoo or google search, I found some interesting links with detailed removal instructions.

You should backup your files and do a format.
Another option is to restore your system to
a previous state using the system restore option
through the help%26support menu.
Hopefully, the previous state you will choose
will be a state where the adware hadn't yet been
installed in your system.

I have had great luck with problematic spyware with the Ewido Security Suite Online Scanner at http://www.ewido.net.
Click Free Malware Beta scan button. Accept the ActiveX prompt. It will download data then scan your computer. Unlike others like trial software like Spysweeper it will fix the problems it finds. You might have to run it twice, but its FREE!!
I have purchased Spysweeper and use MS Anti-spy, but still run Ewido to to be sure.
