Not all tracking cookies are bad... sometimes they are needed so you can be authenticated on pages as you move through the site.

NOT ALL sites use cookies... yahoo, myspace, things like this do because once you are logged in they use the cookie to know who you are and if you have an account (prevents someone else viewing your stuff)

They also set the cookies to see where you go to see what you like to do.

Many larger sites do this so that way they can develop an iterface that you will like..

In short I would not disable them. Just be sure to clean cookies after you log out at the end of the day

In contrary to what 'drarunk' (the guy on top of me) said you could log into SOME websites although not many. But what are you saying!?! Tracking cookies can make using the computer HEAVEN!
It depends. Keep the cookies from websites that you want to remember you. This is the type of information cookies keep. In firefox, if you go to a website that requires your usename and password, it will fill this information in the website. This saves you from typing it in, each time you visit the website.
You will end up with inability to log on any web site. Every website will give you cookies.
